چکیده

This paper tackles on ethical issues that are relevant when designing new technological service systems for the assisted living. In this paper we present our preliminary ethical guidelines that are built on six ethical principles that are selected based on the ethical assessment of MINAmI (Micro-Nano integrated platform for transverse Ambient Intelligence applications), FP 6 Eu – project, scenarios. The aim of ethical assessment is to conclude concrete and clear ethical guidelines that could be used as check lists in MINAmI platform design, demonstrator design and further in general in designing applications onto the MINAmI platform. We assume that this kind of checklist is also useful for other Ambient Assisted Living type of developmental work.

Towards a Framework to Deal with Ethical Conflicts in Agents Systems

Autonomy is a central property in robotic systems, human-machine interfaces, e-business, ambient intelligence and assisted living applications. As the complexity of the situations the autonomous agents may encounter in such contexts is increasing, the decisions those agents make must deal with new issues, e.g. decisions involving contextual ethical considerations. Consequently contributions hav...

User-Centered Design and Evaluation of an Ambient Event Detector Based on a Balanced Scorecard Approach

The user-centered design of an e-health system is a complex endeavor: the conflicting interests of multiple user perspectives have to be balanced throughout the design process. Moreover, a common understanding of the interplay between technical, psychological and business aspects has to be developed among multi-disciplinary project partners. In this paper, we describe how the European ambient a...

Agent-Supported Assessment for Adaptive and Personalized Ambient Assisted Living

Existing approaches to ambient assisted living (AAL) often fail to consider a human agent’s needs from a holistic perspective. In particular the regular assessment of their changing abilities, skills and limitations are often treated as a separate matter in healthcare, thereby affecting the possibilities to provide support tailored to their current condition. Therefore, the objective of this wo...
